Body Makeover Challenge 2017/2018 Winner

Live life fully! This has been a motto of mine since I left South Africa to go travel and see the world almost 20 years ago. In a strange way, it is the same life philosophy that has led me to the USN Body Makeover Challenge.

Throughout my 20’s I was always looking for new excitement and experiences. My story has taken me through corporate work in London, playing rock music to an audience of 2000+ here in S.A, construction work in Iraq during the war, working on luxury cruise ships and many other adventures.

Having gone through a lifestyle transformation like this has made me realize that nothing is impossible if we put our minds to it. I also accept that nothing good comes cheap, so If I want to live my life to its full potential I have to be willing to give it my all.

My biggest challenge in life will be as a leader in my family. Today, and every day that follows, I get to decide what example I set for my wife and kids.

To me, living life fully means enjoying today with no excuses, only results. I look forward to a new future in my own fitness and health.

Body Makeover Challenge 2017/2018 Winner

Being a part of USN has encouraged me to go out and socialise with likeminded people, because people can really surprise you with their kindness. Meeting the USN team for the first time I was taken aback, it was a great experience with such lovely people that just make you feel good and comfortable. This has challenged me to go out and join the gym, because for me going to the gym has always been daunting. I have decided to always encourage myself to get out of my comfort zone and challenge myself every day because the day I started doing something new I found a bit of myself.

WBFF Pro and Bikini Pro World Champion

My name is Cristina Silva, I’m 29 years old and I’m from Mexico. Fitness has been my passion since I can remember. I’m a personal trainer in central London and I love what I do.

Sharing with people what I know about fitness and teaching them that having a healthy lifestyle is not that difficult is what I enjoy doing on a daily basis and what I consider my mission. Taking care of our body can give us a better quality of life; good diet and training can improve not just how we look but how we feel. I really think that changing our mentalities could change the world.

WNBF Professional and Heavyweight World Champion

Richard Gozdecki is a multiple-time WNBF World Heavyweight and European Champion Bodybuilder hailing from the United Kingdom.

I’m currently in a busy phase of my life, working hard, training hard and spending as much free time as possible with my 2 year old son and family. Juggling everything is a challenge, but the greatest challenge of all with endless rewards.

I’m still competing at the highest level within the strength and fitness industry and aim to do so until I am no longer capable of producing some of the results I have achieved in the past. I enjoy taking on new challenges, different sports and testing my every ability. I also enjoy raising money for charity for local causes in the Coventry and Warwickshire area.

WBFF Athlete and 2015/2016 USN Face of Fitness Winner

Motivation is definitely the key; I am privileged to have amazing clients in the early morning hours from 5am that want me to help them change their lives. It motivates me to see the difference I can make in someone else’s life by educating them in something they can take with them forever.

Personally, the muscle group that takes the longest for me to grow is my gluteus. I have started training them twice a week by doing a heavy session in the beginning of the week (so I can secure my Sunday cheat meal), and my second session would normally be focused on the burn and doing isolated exercises like Single-leg Hip Thrusts.

My biggest inspiration throughout my journey I would say has been Jaco de Bruyn. He has not changed since the first day I met him (except in size). He has time for everyone and is a genuine and honest individual.

My fitness related goals for the year are to work harder, eat healthier, fall in love with this lifestyle over and over again and to grow my glutes and shoulders.

2 x Mr Universe & UKBFF Super Heavyweight Champion

When I was younger, I enjoyed football and karate and had success competing in both sports, even having trials with several professional clubs. Thai boxing was, and still is a favourite for keeping fit and I have even started dabbling in Brazilian Jujitsu. Back then, though, I was torn between fight training and football and it was whilst fight training in 2003 that I started weight training.

The owner of the gym told me I should compete in bodybuilding so I did, and in 2004 I won the Heavy Weight & Overall titles at the Nabba North East Britain.

The importance of supplements in bodybuilding cannot be underestimated. They are essential for building muscle mass, reducing body fat, improving performance and providing the right nutrients for the repairing process between training sessions.

South African Track Cycling Sprint Champion

I’m Jean Smith, 15x SA track cycling champion. Won my 1st Gold medal in the Individual Sprint back in 2010 at the Bellville Velodrome, Cape Town.

I started racing track way back in 2006. I was hooked from the 1st ride. Adrenalin was pumping every ride in the beginning just to stay on the track and not slide down the +/- 41 degree bankings. It took me and entire year just too finish one race. And now I’ve won probably more than 200 + races.

I’m now currently in the SA squad to go to Common Wealth Games in Brisbane, Australia, next year. This is my main focus currently. The goal will be to better the current SA record in the team sprint event, held by myself, Jeanne Nell and Olympian Bernard Esterhuizen at 46.39.
